The smoke from dumpster fires is way worse than tear gas. Below: like 5% or less of the scientific evidence
Well, for starters, see chapter 13 for the tear gas.

See chapter 10 and 11 for a broad discussion of cyanides and some of the other stuff.

FWIW I recently had a techbro failson argue with me that satellite imagery could see through stone and would help find the "truth" in the Holy Land and then admitted he'd typed the prompt into ChatGPT. I told him "I wrote the fucking book, and textbook. But go on." Fuck all of them.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

The morning after mass layoffs, The Washington Post publishes this as their lead editorial. The owner and publisher clearly have no idea why they are losing subscribers. Meanwhile they have destroyed a storied brand.

Jeff Bezos took over the Washington Post Editorial Board and turned it into a mouthpiece for pro-corporate, pro-billionaire propaganda.

Now, WaPo is laying off hundreds of *real* journalists — including the reporter covering Amazon.

Moscow Credit Bank, with overdue loans making almost 30% of its portfolio, posted a 9B ruble loss last quarter. 8.2B of that loss occurred in December.

The bank crash has begun...💥

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

One way for the media to win back the respect of viewers would be for them to show us that they have some self-respect of their own.

When you let the president denigrate and humiliate your colleagues without saying a word, you're not really giving off a "holding the powerful to account" vibe
Trump's constant degradation of female reporters is unsurprising but the press corps' collective decision to treat it as background noise is actually kind of sickening

This is a good point, and only emphasizes that how those who resist Trump report RIGHT NOW on threats he and his supports make to election integrity matters.

These threats work by being spread, creating a fear they cannot back up.

DO NOT DO THEIR WORK FOR THEM.
I’ve been working on the Lawyers’ Committee Election Protection project for more than 20 years. This kind of threat happens in almost every cycle and almost never materializes. The threat - creating fear - IS the voter suppression tool. It costs nothing so any suppression it produces is a plus.
