Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Every facet of generative AI has made my professional life worse, without question, but THIS specific aspect has been driving me NUTS.

Clients, who have made me toil for weeks over indescribably small details, are now approving & producing in-house commercial artwork that looks like a fever dream.
I feel the clients now using GenAI to do stuff and going "good enough" when they used to nitpick at every last detail is due to them finding out all those nit picky changes take time and work they cant be bothered to put in.

The Arsenal players’ reactions as their 17 game unbeaten streak came to an end at Villa Park with the very last kick of the game.

Heartbreaking. 💔

hard to decide if it's his non-native English vs a general poetic nature but I always find his quotes both hard to understand on a literal level but also *feeling* right on a moral level
Unai Emery

I was worried and I was responsible. I tried to share my worries with the players two months ago and we are remembering it every day. The most important thing is how the players responded, because if they were not responding in the way I wanted it would be impossible

The tech oligarchs are the most organised, determined anti democratic force we’ve seen this side of World War II

For way too long this has been ignored, elided and under estimated

Friend of mine can't find anywhere to rent in the rural part of Cork where he is from and works.

But there are 100s of AirBnB properties up for 'mid term' or 'six month' rent - u just have to be gone by May & tourist season. With nowhere to go

We have made working Irish ppl homeless or nomadic.

My son's 18, definitely into being in bands, and there are tik tok resurgences of 90s bands like Pixies and MBV in full swing, which is great.
Major issue is affordable local practice space - they are now rare - he travels from Bray to Cabra to access an affordable one, which is ridiculous.

Today, I saw a driver overtake a stopped bus and plough through a pedestrian crossing. He beeped three times as he sped though. The beeping was to warn people because, as he had overtaken a bus, he had zero visibility of who was about to step out onto the crossing.

But sure, more hi-vis, everyone
👀 Can you see me now?

The importance of visibility on our roads cannot be understated, particularly for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooter drivers and motorcyclists.

In Dublin specifically, 27% of tenancies are with landlords who have 100+ tenancies. 27%!

The one property landlords are only 21%. Don't give me this "mom and pop fleeing the market" guff. Mom and pop don't own hundreds of properties.

my 'letting cars nip in front of me' policy is

SUV, Audi, BMW or mercs: close any gap and dead stare straight ahead to pretend I didn't see them

any other vehicle: flash lights, hop in there bud
Great initiative. Not just cities either Roads in the countryside are narrow. Every morning on my way to my daughter’s nursery, Im forced to stop or veer into ditches by SUVs that are pristine & seemingly incapable of going slightly off road. It’s hair raising seeing them charge unwaveringly at you.
Cardiff will be the first UK city to introduce a surcharge for oversized SUVs and trucks, "while very large vehicles – those over 3,500kg – will be excluded from residential permits entirely."
