People keep endlessly falling for this idea that if they can just finally prove once and for all that Trump is a bad person, his voters will turn their back on him and it'll all be over. It's not even remotely close to reality and should have been clear as day the second he got elected back in 2016.

The difference is that MAGA never actually cared. It was always just a means to an end. They don't care about corruption, collusion, classified documents, insurrections, Epstein, or whatever else Trump has done. They only evaluate him based on if they're getting what they want, which they are.

Concerns about their politician's character/morality tend to go into the noise bucket. Where the left gets confused is MAGA loves to weaponize concerns about moral standing against left-wing politicians, because that tend to be fairly effective. So, the left assume they can do the same back.

I've spent way too much time talking to MAGA people and something I consistently note is that they tend to bucket politics into two categories 'policy' and 'noise'. Policy is whether their politicians are doing what they want, and noise is anything else. The latter gets ignored.

We're currently watching over a century of complex societal issues manifest into the total decay of democracy, then just boiling it down to "it's just a distraction from <insert current thing>". It's very unlikely we'll avert disaster if people can't even accept that this is real and happening.

It's truly embarrassing the sheer number of Americans who sincerely believe the US is devolving into a fascist dictatorship "to distract from the Epstein Files". A 5 year old child has a better understanding of how the world works.
