Can't think of a single time the MGM lion advanced the plot of the movie in any way. Just needless jump scare

Episode 104: Predator (1987)

Dreads, mandibles, heat vision, and invisibility? Baby, you got a stew going! We discuss this '80s flick's troubled production, waffling position on imperialism, what happens when we view the Predator as woman, and the real meaning of those repetitive genitalia jokes.

Had a conversation a few weeks ago that made me realize something:

When a normal film fan loves a movie, they can tell you their favorite scenes off the top of their head just like that.

I have run into many BIRTH OF A NATION defenders online and irl. I have never once seen one of them do that.

Ford Sterling plays a sendup of a melodrama villain in BARNEY OLDFIELD'S RACE FOR A LIFE (1913). His plans foiled, he knocks off the Keystone Cops and then, in a move Darth Vader would envy, chokes himself.

Episode 102: Aliens (1986)

We continue our Alien and Predator series with this action sequel that falls short on carrying on the themes of the original. We discuss the film's takes on corporatism, militarism, gender, motherhood, and how its attempts at feminism reinforce the patriarchal order.

Every episode Charlie sends me a very strangely titled wav file and I don't think I've ever once mentioned it to him but this one really tickled me.
Thank you, Charlie

Inbetween working on Hillary's 2008 and 2016 campaigns, Sally spent time working for Republicans Robert Bentley and Newt Gingrich.

It's Godzilla's final film of the Heisei Era and we cover all your burning questions about it. Such as, how do you pronounce Destoroyah? What gender is Destoroyah and where does it fit on the Oedipal triangle? Is Godzilla.... dialectic?

Ep. 76 featuring @merrittk.com: Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991)

This movie has so much going on! Is it an attempt to push Japanese nationalism or a warning about the country's late '80s financial bubble? Are the eco-terrorists a force for good or evil?

New @nogodspod.bsky.social. We go really deep into Nope and, I think, do a pretty solid job of plumbing the depths of the film and pulling out who Jordan Peele was reading and thinking about while he was constructing it.
