When @stephenking.bsky.social writes about The Tower, this is often how he goes about doing it.
#SFFChat Q3: We often talk about setting as its own character. What nonhuman, inorganic feature of your work could you think of in this way?

Could be a place, a thing, an idea . . . .

I guess @destinythegame.bungie.net is really over.

This so 4 seasons straight now with the Pulse meta.

Player skill has officially adapted to using the Pulse at every range rendering everything but the shotgun obsolete.

In got several hundred hours in the pvp and this is the end.

I just finished reading Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker for like the third time in my life, and you know what . . . It's still a fucking great novella.

Playing #Destiny2 recently for the first time in a while and these lobbies may be bad due to low population, but there's quite a few people using 3rd party hardware.

Anyone know if @bungie.net just abandoned that enforcement or what?

I shouldnt be seeing all these macros and hyper turn speeds.

It's not the validity of dawn that brings light.

Just as it's not the harshness of night that brings the darkness.

Instead, the very air itself carries the powers of change.

The same breath that leaves dew in the grasses will also bring frost to your heart with the same gentle exhale.

I've been balancing my Chinese propaganda wit the most effective copoganda I've ever encountered.

I dunno if it's just @nathanfilllion.bsky.social or just that it's just a banger.

Either way, I'm sorry to see it go 😥

Here’s the cover of my next novel, #KingSorrow and a bit about what to expect. It’s out in October and available for preorder with all the usual suspects. My thanks to Today for making a nice little splash out of the cover reveal.

Clocking in at nearly 1,000 pages, "King Sorrow" was worth the wait.

100% legit flattered that we won Best Press in @deadlanguagespod.bsky.social's inaugural awards.

We do this for love (not for $; not yet. $'ll come). And we're convinced--not naively, but w/CERTAINTY--that indie publishing can always be better.

Thank you for recognizing.

All of this, but make sure we see *all* firefighters.

If they can wear an orange jumpsuit to save you and your family, they can wear that orange jumpsuit to collect an award.
change it to a charity event market it as Oscar rolling up his sleeves and getting to work. Present the fire department with special Oscars.

It's the second intermission in my #DarkTower pilgrimage where should I start my binge of @sgj.bsky.social?

If I were to read a book a week or more from him starting today; in what order would you read them?

Listen, this is motivating as hell and I am beginning to see the light behind the logic; but having the guy who wrote some of the best horror movies to come out of the last 15 years refer to posting here as "skeets" more or less solidifies my belief in this platform.
A single page of a novel or script comes to about 300 words or ~1650 characters. So if you can write 6 skeets in a day, you can put 1 page into your dream project. After about 100 days, you’ll have a script; after ~166 days, you’ll have crossed the threshold of being a novel. Just 1 page at a time.

Writing is a lot like weight training. You won't be able to lift a lot at first. You start small. Short session, light weights. Day by day though you get just a *little* stronger. Eventually your sessions get longer, the bars get heavier, and everyone says "I could never do that." Just like you did.

Although I'm not writing anything coherent or especially connected, I am writing daily. Phrases, quotes, strung together words that might mean something to me later if I look at it hard enough.

Just a $12 mile skin I keep with my wallet and something nearby to write with.

well, maybe . . .
Can't wait for Stephen Graham Jones to once again punch me in the face with grief at the end of the book

Just randomly picked up #Destiny2 for the first time in months for some #IronBanner and was immediately put in a match with a couple of clanmed up fellows using obvious Cronus macros on Console.

#Bungie must have given up at this point.

A character in my novel saw Tool at Le Medley, which was a real show that was in Montreal in November, 1996. I was sent a picture from a reader who actually went to that show and kept the ticket!
