⚠️ We didn't "Learn to live with Covid"
(or 'flu).

The public have been misinformed about the availability of protective masks.

You need to fix this @teamlabouruk.bsky.social!

"We have to learn to live with covid" always meant we have to get used to taking precautions.
It never meant, as so many people believe it did, that we have to get used to being sick.

#MaskUp

The life you save could be your own.
Do not catch COVID or flu it can damage your heart. Several of my friends are suffering confirmed heart damage from COVID. If you want to stay healthy do not believe our media saying it’s mild. Do not listen to some politicians. Listen to those impacted. #Maskup if you want to stay healthy.

The thing that gets me is these people are ‘getting on with life normally’ because ‘covid is a con that the government has tricked people into’. When actually the con was governments tricking people into returning to normal with minimal mitigations because of the economy.

A strong charity sector is the result of governments increasingly neglecting their responsibilities. Charities that tackle poverty, healthcare, child safety, the arts, medical research, disabilities etc. shouldn't need to exist - and be wasting so much resource chasing donations. Tax the rich.

Former UK chancellor George Osborne joins OpenAI

Lucrative appointments for failed ministers.

They aren't hired for technical know-how but to exploit political links acquired with public money. What is the return to taxpayers for that investment?

Remember former PM Cameron lobbying for Greensill.

It closed its UK arm in 2023 – but we’ve revealed that the organisation is actually expanding its operations on these shores.

The flu... "coming up" on CBC Metro Morning. They're going to talk about "why it's up".

I can tell you why -- or at least, in part. Because people have normalized going to school and daycare and work sick. They're not taking precautions. Clean air? No. Masking? No. Vaccination? No.

It has everything to do with how modern societies handle complexity.

We are extraordinarily good at generating data and surprisingly bad at synthesizing it across domains. This forms the vacuum where false narratives take root, calcify, and finally break.

Today, Nigel Farage postures as a righteous defender of the same democracy he actively undermines.

Sometimes I imagine what it would have been like had we adapted to Covid instead of giving up.

If we had clean air in public spaces.
Respirators in healthcare.
Free masks for those who need them.
Better tests & treatment.
Paid time off.

We would all be healthier.
