Hegseth has had no problem releasing videos of strikes on boats -- except the one that shows the second strike that killed two survivors clinging to the wreckage of a smashed vessel. That one, he says, is too "top secret" to release. @sangernyt.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/12/17/u...

Glad that Ukraine is getting the funding it needs. But the EU sends a worrisome message of division and irresolution in the face of aggression by not sending the frozen Russian funds to Kyiv. Losing that money would have been a big psychological blow to Putin.

Raskin: This is a gangster state. This is not basically a legitimate government that is sometimes doing corrupt things. This is an essentially corrupt enterprise. It's like watching The Sopranos. Every day, they get up and they try to figure out how to plunder and pillage the people

“Democracy is not a noun – democracy is a verb,” says historian @timothysnyder.bsky.social‬. If you think democracy is something outside of you, it’s already lost, says Snyder. “The crucial thing is to do something.” And remember—we’re all in this together. #Velshi
‘Democracy is a verb’: Timothy Snyder on why the fight begins with you
Historian Timothy Snyder reminds us that the fight for democracy has always begun with ordinary Americans—through civil disobedience, economic pressure, and creative acts of resistance. “Democracy is not a noun; democracy is a verb,” he says. If you think democracy is something outside of yourself, it’s already been defeated. Snyder stresses that resistance isn’t one-size-fits-all. It ranges from small, everyday actions to bigger, riskier actions. “The crucial thing is to do something,” he says. “We also have to recognize that it’s not on any one of us to solve the whole thing. Each of us does a little bit—and together, that changes the whole landscape.”

🧵 The markets are all about responding to & anticipating new events.

His tariffs are not set in stone. They're whims he can change 5x a day.

Trump is fabricating events for the markets to respond to.

Essentially manipulating market events for his & other's profit.
