I havent read such a banger of an essay in a very long time. This is so well-written!
I've been thinking about the NBA betting stuff and maybe it's because I'm in Aus, but the seriousness of it just isn't really hitting. I'm seeing the white house getting partly torn down and amid the symbolism of that it's hard to get fired up about a dodgy poker game (oversimplifying yes).

The police (wrongly) inform a peaceful protestor that holding a Palestinian flag and signs deploring genocide is an offence under the Terrorism Act. This is the deranged policing environment the government has created.

why everything sucks online:
1) online ads used to pay for everything until companies realized that ads didn't work that well
2) the companies that owned the ad systems need something that makes money since ads are working less
3) the people making stuff still needed the money that ads gave them
