Right. So writing my best 5 albums and tracks of 2025, as I've done in years past.

My Bluesky thread of 2025 new tunes is here, I'll add links to the reviews below that. Happy listening, to whatever you're into.

Given it's late March, probably past time I start a 2025 New Tunes thread.

First off the rank is art-rap group clipping. Daveed Diggs may not objectively be the best rapper in the world, but damn it if he's not my FAVOURITE.

If Labor doesn't run a candidate in Ley's seat it stops being a verdict on the government, and would more be a verdict on turfing Ley (although that's a factor either way)... will be interesting to watch

The coalition/throupolition would need to win 20 seats at the next election to be competitive, 28 to take government.

Why is anyone pretending this leadership change will change anything?

Taylor/Hume honestly feels like (if nothing else) the BLANDEST leadership team we've seen in politics for some time. (Crean/Macklin maybe the only one less interesting this century).

Grattan makes a pretty fair point here, I think. The Ley opposition came off an extremely low policy base (and policy formation infrastructure) bequeathed by Dutton and to an extent the arse-end of the Morrison period.

Ah, some people are annoyed that Amy Remeikis has written the book she wanted to write rather than the book they think she should have written.

Looks interesting nonetheless, and a pretty uncompromising title. www.simonandschuster.com.au/books/Where-...

Honestly wish more of parliament was like this. Straight questions (from the relevant MP, what's more!) and what looks like a good faith promise to answer it.

I know it's not always what it's used for, but there's a place for it.

More than 400 people, including hundreds of citizens, were “sorted” at gun point into racial and ethnic groups by 200 ICE agents who fired flash-bang grenades into cars with people inside, pointed guns at children & demanded their zip tied parents not comfort them. apple.news/Ausdx6kWtT0e...

no Elon, all experts agree the ideal close quarters weapon is a Sig P320, carried in a special holster configuration only used by special forces guys called "reverse appendix carry". If the barrel is pointed into your guts when holstered you're doing it right.

Old enough to remember when Fortnite was being advertised solely as a PvE Basebuilder.
it's insane to me as someone who watched the live service model grow into what it is today that these kinds of games aren't even given a month to live and potentially grow and gain and audience when something like league or fortnite didn't blow up overnight.
