Reposting this great thread from @bcdreyer.social on the etiquette of social media responses. And pinning.

7. Don't quoteskeet anyone to dunk on what they just said unless you're doing it with the full understanding that they are quite likely to detach their skeet from yours and then block you.
bcdreyer.social
1. Don't snitch-tag.
2. Don't explain to people what they just said.
3. Don't "correct" people's jokes.
4. Don't respond seriously to silly little posts.
5. Don't respond trivially to obviously serious posts.
6. Don't "jocularly insult" people you don't know.

The rest is commentary.

Our whole governmental system is based on the assumption that people in power will honor their oaths and obligations of office. Turns out, people who won’t do that can easily dismantle the whole thing. Without ethics it all goes south in a hurry. Ethics is primary; laws are meaningless without it.

Makes me sick that the US government and its boss corporations have spent the last 60 years denying climate change and resource depletion. I've given up. I have a low footprint life and encourage people I know to do the same. But without large-scale institutional efforts, we are screwed.

I grew up going to Zabar's. So many of my childhood memories center around the best lox in NYC (which is saying something). With Saul Zabar's passing today, the Upper West Side has lost a legend who turned his parent's humble store into a culinary institution.

Please do listen to the whole video—they are glad to be rid of Ryan Walter’s in Oklahoma.

THE CHICKENS ARE FINALLY COMING HOME TO ROOST

Ryan Walters is out & the investigation floodgates just opened. The Oklahoma AG launched a full audit of Walters’ entire tenure as Superintendent, and it’s about damn time.

Also the education dept website’s being scrubbed of his culture-war nonsense.

“We’re operationalizing our old corridors—taking ancient trade routes our elders told us about and articulating them in a modern context,” said Solomon Cyr, spokesperson for Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation.” — Love it when people take advantage of political opportunities.

Greta Thunberg, deported to Greece, says the targeting of the Sumud Flotilla is "not the story" @teenvogue.com — instead, she says:

"Israel once again violated international humanitarian law by preventing aid from getting into Gaza while people are being starved.”

Janice Asare wrote about boycotts in 2023. Message: Boycotts work! An historically important tool of resistance. Boycotts range from those aimed at specific companies (like Target, Disney) to an overall cut in consumption. Helps to let others know you're boycotting, to build community. #resistance

People who are safe in the streets, that is, older white people, can be in the streets. Others need to protect themselves and stay close to home. Gotta know that when the bastards see Black people in the streets they are more likely to use deadly force, declare martial law, etc. because of racism.
