There were update disks produced for AL & NL teams between 1984 and 1991 plus they started us out with the 1927 Yankees, 1945 Cubs, 1955 Dodgers, 1961 Yankees, 1963 Dodgers, 1968 Tigers, 1969 Mets, 1973 A’s, 1975 Reds, 1975 Red Sox, 1978 Yankees, 1979 Pirates, 1980 Astros, 1980 Royals, etc.

I used to have discussions with Howard Bryant about our love of baseball computer sims like “MicroLeague Baseball”, “Star League Baseball” & “Earl Weaver Baseball”. You could add historic teams and add/order disks from past MLB seasons. The 1977 & 1978 Red Sox were among the teams we added.

The 1977 Red Sox hit .281 with 213 HR’s and a .810 OPS, they had 6 position players make the AS team, Pictured: Fisk hit .315 with 26 HR’s and a .922 OPS. George Scott hit .269 with 33 HR’s and a .837 OPS. Rice hit .320 with 39 HR’s and a .969 OPS. Butch Hobson hit .265 with 30 HR’s and a .789 OPS.

Good time to remember that there are no truly great coaches in any sport. Literally none, ever. There are shitty ones and decent ones and pretty good ones, but the good ones only ever look great when they have elite talent, and will look mediocre or even shitty as soon as they don't.

When I was a kid? The Atlantic 10 was like AWA Wrestling. It came on a weird channel compared to the other conferences but it still had draws: Temple, Xavier, St. Joseph’s, West Virginia (pre-Big East), Rutgers (pre-Big East), Penn State (pre-Big 10), UMass, URI, GWU & Virginia Tech (pre-Big East)

Watched Yinka Dare’s entire college career as Atlantic 10 games aired on local Boston stations before we had cable thanks to UMass (Amherst) & URI. The NBA game really exposed the lack of polish he had and what he never had to improve on due to his role as a Colonial battling A10 powerhouses’ bigs

Bonus Hollander POTD Yinka Dare. GW C was drafted 14th in 94 by NJ. Large but was really raw. Didn't play as a rookie due to knee. Famously had 0 assists in 626 min in 95-96. Out of NBA by 98. Per bio "trails Stockton by mere 12,168 assists." Sadly died too young in 04.
