It's been proper hot. Montreal has been living under Florida air for days. I wake up in the middle of the night to cool off and rehydrate.
Still, a shitty day on Earth is better than any alternative.
Also, I saw a jumping spider earlier (she wasn't cool with the heat either). They're quite cute.

I love the flavor of OP, don't get me wrong, but:
i) The Dark Ages were called that because of the lack of written records from the period (i.e. history went dark)
ii) Christianity, especially Catholicism, was still limited in influence and would remain so for centuries
iii) Fewer super-rich, IIRC
