If he believes this then he should be arguing against cutting benefits and spending on services. Fairly obviously.

Increasingly, the question is becoming how democracies across Europe can navigate and endure the security threat from our west - from America turning for now into a Trumpian Rogue Superpower - as well as from Putin's Russia to the east. With the hope - but not yet an expectation - that both can pass
The @economist.com on Europe’s task to preserve what’s left of the West. Remarkably strong words.

As we show in our paper, there is a clear EEA/single market shaped wall keeping the UK out from EU defence industrial instruments.

Looking forward, that means either the UK rejoins the single market, the EU rewrites its third country rules or both settle on a special status.

Would I prefer to live in a world where we don‘t need to spend a penny on Defence? Yes. Do I think I live in such a world? No.
There is a dictator in the Kremlin attacking the Post-war security order in all of Europe, and the US President just blew up the Western Alliance.

It’s hard to see how the transatlantic alliance can be resuscitated after this. A pity our government seems to be clinging to the hope that Trump’s America can be managed. I think there’s a real opportunity opening up for the Lib Dems to become a “hard edged” pro European party.

If you don’t want history to be re-written please share this video widely - because the only way to stop that happening is to constantly call this boll**** out with the actual facts
If UK news shows are going to give Nigel Farage a platform to spout this absolute boll**** about Brexit & the vaccine rollout (unchallenged) I’ll happily come back every week to correct it

We cannot allow them to rewrite history.

If you agree share this FACT CHECK widely

I supported this protest and am completely delighted that the new UK government will not be going ahead with plans to destroy paper wills and records. They’re the lifeblood of historical research.
Thanks to the 1,600 people and organisations who responded to the UK Ministry of Justice’s proposals on the retention of wills. Good news: The UK Government has determined not to proceed with any reforms that involve the destruction of original wills

I'm all for paying MPs more e.g. double what they get now, but beyond that, other factors then need sorting out.... like FPTP and the entire UK media culture.

🚨🚨 "It’s time for the UK to be brave in talks with the EU". Hard agree with @pmdfoster.bsky.social' analysis here of the state of play with the EU-UK reset. The absence of priority and urgency on UK (and EU side) here is striking. 🧵
