Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

It's so ridiculous that MAGAs believe the GOP line that "Democrats want to give free healthcare to immigrants."

My dudes immigrants aren't getting free healthcare in the United States. American citizens aren't even getting free healthcare. You know who is?

The people lying to you about immigrants.

It’s essential to separate the modes of transportation. That’s why our D5 office focused so much on protected bike lanes, Slow Streets, Car Free JFK, and more.
ianwalker.bsky.social
"The single most important behaviour, design or regulation for creating streets conducive to walking and cycling, was physical separation between the modes"

We've got a new study out, learning from a broad mixture of street users, planners and designers

www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Highlights
For marginalised street users mode separation is the key to human-scale movement.
Streets conducive to walking and cycling have functional, safe and accessible design.
Professionals must approach street design, regulation and user behaviour holistically.
Combinations of influencing factors persuade people to either use or avoid a street.
There are no easy fixes to the public realm that will work for all non-drivers.

Excited to see this move forward! San Francisco needs a public bank to invest in affordable housing, green infrastructure, and small businesses. Thanks for leading on this SF Public Bank Coalition and @jackiefielder.bsky.social

2/3 of likely San Francisco voters support the idea of a public bank, a new poll shows.

Thatt’s a pretty dramatic outcome for an issue that isn’t even on the ballot.

This headline says so much about the SF Chronicle. To the Chron’s editors, the problem with AI in San Francisco isn’t growing inequality, surveillance, rent increases, evictions, and job losses. The problem as they see it is a limit on the supply of mansions for the wealthy 🤦‍♂️
AI wealth has created a new dynamic in S.F. real estate: Not enough mansions
San Francisco has long been a market for the affluent, but luxury homes across the city are being sold at record speed as a new wave of wealth floods the city with fresh riches.

There are now two Americas when it comes to housing:

In one, people work multiple jobs and still can't afford a home.

In the other, housing isn't a place to live but a portfolio to grow.

Trump's tweet that Portland is "war ravaged" just backfired. A Trump-picked judge cited it in blocking National Guard deployment to Portland, declaring him "untethered from facts."

On the pod, Oregon AG Dan Rayfield illuminatingly explains the ruling and what's next:

Over the weekend, Trump announced the deployment of hundreds of Texas’ National Guard troops to Chicago. Illinois sued to block.

This is what turning San Francisco's political leadership over to tech billionaires has done to our city. Rents and evictions are surging. For billionaires, this is cause for celebration. For everyone else, it's a disaster.

Rather than address it, City Hall seems determined to add fuel to the fire.
S.F. rent surge is outpacing every big U.S. city. Here’s what’s driving the increase
San Francisco rentals are leasing faster and pricing higher than they have at any point since the pandemic.

Feel free to attribute the following to a former OMB General Counsel: The supposed "new legal analysis" is, to use a technical legal term, horseshit. What the law actually says is that when Congress enacts a law ending a lapse, furloughed employees get paid at the earliest date possible. Period.

Johnson: "It's true that in previous shutdowns, many or most furloughed employees have been paid for the time they were furloughed, but there is new legal analysis - I don't know the details, I just saw a headline - but there are some legal analysts saying that might not be appropriate or necessary"

SF taxes the sale of mega-mansions and skyscrapers to fund social housing (Prop I) but our mayor refuses to spend the money on social housing. Mayor Lurie has diverted over $175 million so far in his tenure.

Why would any mayor divert affordable housing funding during an affordability crisis?

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has said that local police will not cooperate with ICE, though some advocates are warning that, the city is applying to renew a federal grant that requires law enforcement coordinate with federal agents.

The grant helps fund a law enforcement center that’s drawn criticism over privacy and over data-sharing with ICE. It would also come with new strings to spend money on border control.

Yes, I know nothing matters for the One Special Boy, but these new blanket tariffs - like all the other tariffs - are wildly illegal & violate multiple domestic laws <and> multiple international treaties. We should enforce our laws & comply with our treaty obligations.

Note that in Broadview when the Mayor announced the investigation, she was flanked by Mayors of other nearby communities. This kind of solidarity is more important than ever. Mayors around the country need to speak up in a loud chorus, not just sit around waiting until their city is targeted.

Police departments nationwide will need to decide whether they are going to protect residents from lawless federal agents. Their default will be solidarity with "fellow law enforcement." It's essential to pressure politicians (Mayors, councilmembers) to direct their police to stand up for residents.
