Jacob Frey can try to de-escalate all he wants, but he can also interpose his body in defense of his constituents like tens of thousands of them are already.

Senate Democrats absolutely have to shut the govt down to stop this ICE insanity in the Twin Cities. This is not sustainable & cannot be normalized. Any Democratic vote to provide money to the thugs who are brutalizing this community is a grave betrayal to the people here. Accountability can't wait.

Fielding a bunch of poorly trained people predisposed to thuggery has some benefits. But it also has weaknesses, namely, literally signaling weakness by showing how poorly trained an vulnerable you are. Betting an awful lot on the military. Or the local PDs. Not sure even the PD are a good bet.
If the feds keep escalating, they may learn first hand that their behavior so far has been suffered only by the grace of the people.
More feds showed up. Crowd chanting, "fuck ICE!"

These vehicles also reversing out now.

The first amendment *says* this. The government is supposed to guarantee those rights, and that’s not happening. So what’s the plan?
The First Amendment protects the public’s right to:

1. Film ICE in public

2. Photograph ICE in public

3. Observe what ICE does in public

ICE and DHS officials cannot lay a finger on any American who is peacefully exercising First Amendment rights.

If this is who we are, there are going to many who… disagree with that.
Apparently ICE goons in multi-car caravans are circling Spanish immersion preschools in the city taunting and photographing the parents and neighbors who are patrolling the school perimeter to keep kids safe.

Just a little extortion via the DOJ by the president and the senate gop to remove the fed chair. Just regular normal stuff.
Sen. Kevin Cramer: "Maybe the point should be if you're the attorney for Jay Powell and you want to avoid an indictment, how about you go to Jeanine Pirro and say, 'I'll make a deal. I'll step down today if you drop the investigation today.' To me, that would be a win win for everybody."

Brett kavanaugh.
BREAKING: ICE agents in Minneapolis violently detained and arrested a U.S. citizen for one reason only: he refused to prove his citizenship.

No crime. No warrant. No probable cause.

Hakeem Jeffries is afraid of a bad poll, meanwhile the observers and neighbors here on the ground in Minneapolis are afraid of being beaten senseless, dragged into a car, and raced out of their neighborhood. They’re not yielding but he is. Consider new leaders, Democrats

I, too, have done silly things when drunk. Usually like eating 4 more pieces of pizza or have more beers than appropriate.
Wild reporting from Bloomberg. Jeanine Pirro apparently freelanced the subpoenas and criminal investigation of Jerome Powell.

ICE stopping a special education bus to ask for their papers. We aren’t angry enough.
Local parents groups asking if adults can ride school buses to help protect children from ICE after a special ed bus got stopped this morning. Like a Dirty Harry movie except the villain in the federal government.

i think powell's response here is a demonstration of the folly of the idea that democratic accountability requires presidential control. what if the president is not acting in the public interest? you want independent agencies to be able to push back and pursue their *congressional mandate*
Powell, showing more guts than almost any GOP legislators:

"The threat of criminal charges is a consequence of the Fed setting interest rates based on our best assessment of what will serve the public, rather than following the preferences of the President."

Deliberately conflating antifa (whatever that means, but it’s a boogeyman they have tried to create) with suburban wine moms seems like a bold strategy. Can’t see any way that doesn’t work out for them.
Ladies you “Zumba-ed” too hard!
January 11, 2026 at 9:42 PM
You’ll see a certain type of leftist that tries to gatekeep on this. Same folks who made their personality about “discovering” bands first in their social circle etc. You know, assholes.
It's actually a good thing that previously apolitical normies are finally getting angry and starting to speak out. We need the numbers in the streets and at the polls.

If your response to them is "no, fuck you, too late," then you don't actually care about stopping Trump. You're just preening.
January 11, 2026 at 8:03 PM
We do see it. It’s most of our elected representatives at every level who don’t seem to care. They’re the ones supposed to be speaking up here. Protests are happening, and they’ve done their best to criminalize those, too. These are immense failures of leadership.
We have to be clear about what the Trump Administration is doing: They are taking basic American virtues and freedoms — the ability to speak truth to power and freely — and turning them into crimes. We must see through this.

my man, you’re talking about the people who killed George Floyd
State and local law enforcement know the communities they serve. They’ve built the trust and know how to keep us safe.

As Minnesotans express their first amendment rights, I encourage you to remain peaceful and know that local law enforcement has one goal in mind: your safety.

Whatever comes after all this (if the good guys are making the rules) needs to include a congressional federal police force.
I was just denied access to the ICE processing center at the Whipple Building.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.

The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.
JUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents.
