Continues to be wild to me how few Labour MPs have absorbed that the Starmer-Reeves strategy is, and always has been “Plan A: Somehow the Major economy returned Plan B: Die”.
The tax rises in this Budget’s are backloaded.

Serious howls of outrage in the media this morning at what is a relatively modest Budget from Labour that does nothing more than fiddle around the margins.
It does highlight the missed opportunity. If you’re going to get this reaction anyway, why not at least get it for attempting a big swing?

I am just a few years younger than Farage and went to the local comp. My family stood out because we were 'darker' (Italian), we had a funny surname, ate different food and Dad used to sing opera very loudly in the bathroom, shattering the peace in our quiet very English suburb.

One of multiple recent trips into Newcastle on the bus this morning (I’m away to Manchester). Fleet could do with an upgrade (that’s happening*), but punctuality and journey times way better than they were a couple of years back. Fares capped too. Good.
