The Trump administration has already made cruelty and dishonesty its calling cards. New revelations will not undermine it by themselves.

Like the Mueller investigation, what comes of the Epstein files will be determined by the balance of power within the state.

And by what we do in the streets.

A disturbing update to this story: Despite the fact that he was about to be released from a US prison after completing a sentence here, when Kelvin Membreño was deported to El Salvador he was sent to CECOT prison and remains there. The family has not heard from him since.
NEW — Kelvin Membreño will be deported to El Salvador by ICE tomorrow. He’s the birth father of three US citizen daughters and has become an important part of their lives.

Here their adoptive mother makes a last ditch plea to let him stay in the same country as the girls. A gutting guest essay:
A mother's urgent plea to stop ICE from deporting her daughters’ birth father tomorrow
He served his time in the US. He deserves to heal here, too.

New: We obtained thousands of internal chat messages from the ICE team creating viral videos of raids and "EPIC takedowns."

A scramble to satisfy the White House and "feed the beast" spawned a new "propaganda" machine, current and former officials told us.

"It is alarming that the United States Department of Justice, the very agency tasked with upholding the law, has violated the law, both by withholding massive quantities of documents, and by failing to redact survivor identities.."

This is 404 Media's @jasonkoebler.bsky.social waving at himself through a Flock camera; one of 60 we learned was left exposed to the open internet. Not only could anyone with a link livestream it, but some admin portals were open with no login credentials required.

Jesus fucking Christ. No, LLM won’t help you learn more. Why? Because when you read a summary (EVEN IF it’s correct, which is not a given) you are missing out on the process which is arguably more important than the result 🧵

Here in Delaware we have a statue of Thomas Garrett, a white man found guilty of obstructing the recapture of fugitives from slavery – ordered to pay damages to the point of ruin for it.

We don't, to my knowledge, have any statues celebrating the judges or jury members who found him guilty.
