Our checks & balances are inadequate and our institutions insufficiently democratic. But the break in norms and lack of social cohesion is attributable to our failure to educate democratically and meet people's basic needs for a fulfilling, democratic life.

Whoever can disrupt academic publishing and not take down higher education in the process will be so rich. The best alternative, however, would be to switch to a non-profit open access model.

Because many of them like this and want this. They’re not a real opposition party.
Once again, I’m wondering why Democrats aren’t running with a straightforward message of “despotism is un-American and unaffordable” right now and all the way into the midterms.
