A US citizen has apparently been shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis. I’m gathering information, but the situation on the ground is volatile.

ICE should leave now for everyone’s safety.

We found the super predators.
“Dominant predator force” meant as a positive is kind of all you need to know about these sick freaks.
Ogles: "It's important that we have a stake in Greenland, that they are quite frankly a protectorate of the US. They've been in relationship with Denmark - that needs to end. We've spilled more blood protecting Greenland than the Danes... we are the dominant predator force in the Western Hemisphere"

Oh dear. Another day, another American insisting that British Asians aren’t British. It’s literally only about three months since the last one of these.
London is considered one of the best cities for *foreign, imported/colonized* food.

Try getting anything resembling that in rural Northern England or Wales.

Because that’s what it is. Someone had to knowingly spread this false information, because the articles about these stories aren’t hiding these facts. In fact most articles about the CPB don’t even mention PBS in the headline.

I won’t lie, accurate info is hard to come by.

OMG DID YOU HEAR??? MTV and PBS shut down!!!!!

If you are on any social media, I’m very confident that you heard at least one of these in the last three days.

They’re both false.

I am genuinely at a loss for a precedent here. Very, very few states in history ever enjoyed the success of the USA even on a regional level and I just can’t think of any of them dynamiting it all for absolutely no gain

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

I’m not quite here yet but I’m close

Those of you who used Twitter from very early on may recall that it had gotten a lot more unpleasant even pre-Elon; I personally would say during the 2016 election cycle, but certainly by COVID

That’s what it increasingly feels like here

Also, it is just insane, an actual mental illness, the way this site just use any event to hyperfixate on Democratic messaging. Shit does not matter, but it'll take up all the oxygen in the room. Literally the most popular topic here.

The impeachment thing bothers me more and more.

It failed twice, and it made no one happy. People on this platform routinely forget it happened.

On a platform full of people who sneer at "strongly worded letters", everyone is obsessed with the most strongly worded letrer possible.

A concept I've been meaning to float to make sense of what's happened to the US Constitution is an idea from the British constitutional tradition: "implied repeal."

It's useful because it helps us to understand that Article I, & much else of the US Constitution, has been implicitly repealed.

In the wake of Trump's illegal operation against Venezuela and bizarre and unsupported claims that the US is now running Venezuela, I think the most important thing we can do right now is get mad at Democrats for not opposing it in exactly the right way even though they're clearly opposing it.

There is no crisis. There is no pressing act of war. None of the usual excuses of Presidential authority to take immediate action are present except "Donald Trump says so."

There is a world where some intervention in Venezuela was legal, but we are in the explicitly ILLEGAL one. That's important!

Some people are saying it doesn't matter that Maduro is a bad man and a tyrant.

I respectfully disagree. It matters a lot, because even when dealing with very bad men, it is not an excuse to ignore the processes that make society function, and we have to loudly assert this fact.

Sure, but consider the possibility Trump does not in fact know a single thing about the oil market, and the Scheming Viziers (who have their own reasons to want war with Venezuela) are using oil as their way to sell him on this.

5. I have no respect for Donald Trump. He diminishes everything he touches. But focusing on him right now is like being bitten by your neighbor’s unleashed, unfenced rabid dog and focusing on the dog. If we don’t hold his enablers to account we’re going to keep getting bit.
