this is a favourite!
Recently been re-reading Susan Marks’ A False Tree of Liberty. As a critical genealogy of human rights, it’s an unparalleled piece of work - should be read, taught, and debated a lot more!

How you view Emmanuel Macron depends on who you support politically:

- LFI: Macron is a fascist globalist elite bank baron
- PS: Emmanuel Macron is a right-wing capitalist & hates poor people
- Ensemble / Renaissance: Macron is a centrist
- LR: Macron is a socialist
- Far-right: Macron's a Commie
Is Macron regarded as centre right in France?

British Immigration debate which has shifted far, far, far right is understable because White British people quite literally used to burn/maim/rape/torture/kill the immigrants' ancestors. It was a only a matter of time before they go back to their true racist selves.

India sent six to twelve year old Rohingya girls alone to Myanmar to face rape and death. We literally threw some of people into the Bay of Bengal. How can we expect better, morally?

Nobody is going to give us the compassion we refuse to give others and ourselves. ✨

Using a sick day today bc I’m feeling under the weather. Going to watch Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go (2010) for the first time. Kazuo Ishiguro’s 2005 novel of the same name is one of my all-time favorites, so I’m feeling a wee bit nervous 🤞

Obama is preparing for the inevitable: his role as the leader of a caretaker government where he has to work to restore the rule of law, free and fair elections, and the implementation of a truth and reconciliation commission.
If only we covered American politics like we would the global South.

Until recently, I thought BBC is cool and chic British TV. My new room has a TV and I finally realised that could not have been more wrong. What an appalling, excusive of a channel.

There is a lot of truth here, but I have to point out that one of the problems of our time is assuming that immigrants don't share the views of the contemporary GOP. There are plenty of Indians for example cheering on the decimation of government & deportations without due process.
International students are lifeblood for US innovation.

They are 75% of all foreign-born founders of venture-capital funded startup companies in the United States.

Many will simply stop coming, now that they face tests for thoughtcrime.

The order comes as President Trump expands deportation efforts, including of students who have spoken out in support of Palestinians during Israel’s war in Gaza.

The outpour of endless gratitude from all corners of the world towards Conor Gearty, upon the news of his sudden death, is more than moving. It makes me think that there are good answers to the question 'what makes a life worth living', after all.

In The Gambia, after Yahya Jammeh's brutal dictatorship ended (through the ballot and threat of ECOWAS intervention), the new regime seized & sold his assets to fund the Truth Commission and pay the victims. A sharp contrast to these thoughtless, directionless protesters engaging in arson in Nepal 🤦🏿

i am sorry an uneducated prime minister is not the same as an uneducated ward counsellor or even chief minister. it is not indicative of some grand subalternism like Anish claims here. It comes at a HUGE COST for the country
