the weather station buffeted by waves disappears into the pixelation of a phone camera breaking down at distance while in the foreground a fragile trail of rocks enticing the walker to an oblivion of water at high tide. you will drown here trying to get to the spire while the sky fades out in an attempt to lull you into the trap. the holy seagull basks in the silver honey light of a godlike sun interrupted by fragile clouds, the gull soldered into the huge slab of gray rock below, as if the entire jetty were the teeth of some fallen leviathan. hail the ecstatic, as this is the quality of light Turner hoped the capture, and in the enrapturement convey the en-lightenment. the black cross at the left of the rocky intrusion on the sea is balanced by the erosion and slight hint of sand and the natural on the left, this jetty like the extrusion of some primordial deity, with the sky above oblivious to the violence of the landscape below it.
