Exactly this. The discourse has mostly been "how trivial and stupid, how can a font be woke?" and ignoring that the shift was meant to make it more accessible to the visually impaired. Switching it back is a direct attack on accessibility, and is cruel for no reason other that to be cruel.
It's not Calibri so much as the conscious decision to revoke an accessible design choice.

It's a bit like making a website inaccessible to screen readers and adaptive technologies simply because they consider it too woke to be inclusive
