Once I was up for a role in a film & producers said “If we cast a white woman as female lead we can’t cast you; gotta get an actor of color.” They wound up casting a white woman & thus cast a great Black actor in the part I was up for. He killed it. Did I whine about it? No, I got another job or made one up; don’t even remember. World got a movie with a fantastic performance in it & I wound up A-OK. So the thing that 100% didn’t happen to these bigot pussies literally happened to me & the world continued to wipe my white ass. Give these shitheads no quarter. I love affirmative action & DEI even though it can be inelegant or clumsy. So what? It’s the barest of bandaids on centuries of racism both explicit & structural. Racism that I’m not responsible for but that I am very happy to ever-so-barely acknowledge is as real as a hand grenade, because I’m not insane.
