I think the best analogue for Rowling and the "I can't stop supporting her" crowd is Morrissey. It's hard to explain to people who weren't there at the time just how important The Smiths were for outsider kids as a source of solace, solidarity and hope. Far more than the HP books in all honesty...

watched the Kneecap movie and it pisses me off how in England you have this naked contempt for education and art and the young while Ireland is having a great cultural moment. all this wank about defending heritage and 'englishness' but hostility to English degrees, every museum under attack, fucked

Saw a headline suggesting that one of Labour’s latest racist rules could accidentally stop the NHS functioning altogether. Accidentally.

Jenrick is just saying out loud what his Tory colleagues think every time they have to leave the parallel society they inhabit, & are forced to an interface with the decay they've created. "This country has gone to the absolute shithouse *despite* our first-rate governance. These damned ethnics 😒."

A big takeaway from @500songspodcast.bsky.social is that bands could actually live off of music before they were famous. To have the chance to spend a few years trying to make it, even on little money would be amazing. But it's not an option anymore. Make you wonder what we've lost in music.

This is the Prime Minister refusing the most basic function of his office: protecting British citizens. Has anything like this ever happened before, where a government has simply shruggged its soldiers & abandoned its own citizens to a foreign power saying 'that's not my problem'?

Keir Starmer’s spokesman asked about Israel detaining British citizens who were on the Gaza aid flotilla, while in international waters, replies that it is a “matter for the Israeli Government”

That’s what I think. I’m not saying they produced the best possible film from what they had to work with, but there’s a lot to commend it

"The changes being considered for that bill include the UK abandoning a European list of species and habitats that need to be protected and drawing up a British one instead"

I'm Jewish. I'm also Mancunian.

Every other national party leader was interviewed by Laura Kunesberg during their conference.

Maybe the BBC thought as someone who also supports Palestine - I had nothing to say?

The fact they jumped straight to AI actors modeled after women when, if I’m not mistaken, male actors are a higher labor cost kind of says it all doesn’t it,

There is no need for further restrictions to protest based on the concept of cumulative disruption. Repeated protests can be evidence of strength of feeling towards an ongoing injustice and are an important democratic mechanism for citizens to have their voices heard.

No, you're not going crazy. You did read this and also read about the PSNI arresting people in London for being members of a proscribed organization.

The broadcast just made a point of mentioning Myles Garrett low pressure rate today, so of course he gets a third down sack on the next play.
