I think the best analogue for Rowling and the "I can't stop supporting her" crowd is Morrissey. It's hard to explain to people who weren't there at the time just how important The Smiths were for outsider kids as a source of solace, solidarity and hope. Far more than the HP books in all honesty...
Watch her go through the stages of grief in, like, fifteen seconds as she realises that her worldview is nonsense. Hopefully she reaches acceptance soon.

You are witnessing an administration that’s more corrupt and callous and inept than the Johnson government that threw untested patients into care homes, turned restaurants into virus incubators and gifted millions to their friends and neighbours during covid. Incredible.

For some reason I've suddenly remembered those two Palestine activists who were convicted of harassment (later overturned on appeal) for filming themselves asking a Labour MP questions about Gaza.
Today I learned that stalking a 17 year old girl, writing up a 400 page 'dossier' about her, falsely reporting her to the police and smashing her phone does not constitute 'harassment'.

One wonders what *would*.
Graham Linehan cleared of harassment but guilty of criminal damage to trans activist's phone

I hope Claudia Cardinale, looking exactly as she did in 1967, pops round to spend the afternoon listening to Super Furry Animals b-sides.
We hope Reeves sticks to the values of a Labour Chancellor and focuses her Budget on taxing extreme wealth to invest in Britain and improve living standards for everyday people. 3/3

“85 percent of claimants make additional payments to get better cars”

This must stop immediately, otherwise how is this a punishment?
Motability hopes to take the heat out of criticisms by taking posh cars out of the scheme bit.ly/4ikutWl but convertibles may still be available! 😉

A very, very important peer-reviewed empirical study published in the academic journal Pediatrics shows that hormone treatment of young trans people decreases suicidality very significantly.

Doubtless it will be ignored by Simonoff et al, who are not even measuring this in the “Pathways” study.
Changes in Suicidality among Transgender Adolescents Following Hormone Therapy: An Extended Study
To examine changes in suicidality following hormone therapy (HT) among transgender and gender-diverse adolescents and young adults.A retrospective cha…

Your view of whether this is a good or bad idea will depend on how corrupt you think UK elections already are or could be
Zack Polanski tells the BBC it would be "very tempting" for him to stand in Keir Starmer's seat at the next general election

every social media company is bad but Meta really is uniquely evil
Instagram’s former head of safety and well-being Vaishnavi Jayakumar testified the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the trafficking of humans for sex.

“You could incur 16 violations and upon the 17th violation, your account would be suspended"

Court filings allege Meta tolerated sex trafficking, hid harms to teens, and prioritized growth over user safety for years.

In 1987, he must’ve been into the late 60s hippy band Nirvana
As someone who is this guy's age I can tell you 100% that if you were into Pixies, Nirvana, 120 Minutes stuff, etc. but didn't like the Beatles you had to have worked hard to contort yourself into that special little box. Your enemy, if you absolutely needed one, was hair metal. GTFO here with this.

In the organisation I worked I saw people working shorter hours for more money doing something that looked like it would be interesting if they weren’t so intent on hating it, so I started doing it on top of my own role for just long enough that I could add it to my CV, then I made the switch
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

they p much said this openly already. the big backlash to puberty blockers was based on them failing to deter kids from transitioning (since they had been appropriately prescribed to kids who were very clearly not cis)
It’s fairly clear that the outcome of the puberty blockers trial will be to recommend a ban on their prescription for trans kids BECAUSE they are an effective treatment. Cass, after all, sees trans people living as they wish as a negative outcome.

Quite a lot of the scientific method exists to mitigate the very human thing of doing a thing to prove themselves right instead of to uncover the truth.
Politicians or financers dictating research is a red flag because vested interests are bad for truth.
wes streeting conducting trials on puberty blockers is no different from robert kennedy jnr conducting research in to links between autism and vaccinations.

it's a pantomime and a sham with predetermined outcomes designed to push a bigoted narrative.

Mepham ignoring that loose Price pass is another example
Collyer trying to walk a ball out of play allowing Sakamoto to go shoulder to shoulder with him and regain possession in our defensive third sums this team up. We do not value the ball or do the better but more difficult thing.

I was literally typing a post about Molumby’s inevitable red card. Why the fuck did Mason send him back out? We’d already got away with it after he kicked the ball away while on a yellow.

Main takeaways from the first half:

1, a defensive team with a 2-0 should be able to see out more than ten minutes before conceding

2, Ellis Simms is wasting a golden opportunity to replicate George Berry’s haircut, one of the top five in football history
