But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?"

If Rudolph is really the most famous of the reindeer, then how come he’s the one we wouldn’t remember? 🤔

If you have Microsoft Office 365 and your billing is coming up, check to make sure your plan is set to renew as the "Classic" version - this is the plan without Copilot and should be cheaper. December 14th for the last ten years has meant a queer story or retelling inspired by a holiday story or song. Here’s this year’s offering: "A Winter’s Hourglass," inspired by "Let it Snow" and offering two revisits to tales that came before.

I hope it reminds us of a truth: we’ve always been here.

Two years ago, my annual queer retelling turned to the (almost) modern (I say almost because 1981 is now historical and that’s FINE, I’m not blowing away as DUST ON THE WIND), with "Most of ’81."

Yep, that’s right. "Christmas Wrapping."

Specifically because "Most of ’81 passed along those lines."

Okay, three years ago in my "let’s do an annual retelling of a holiday tale, only queer" project, I bumped into "The Romance of a Christmas Card" and was listening to it and *one* line made me choose it for the yearly retelling.

And "Not the Marrying Kind" was born.

I'm a lifelong Mets fan, through good and, mostly, bad. The past 36 hours have been among the most devastating/disheartening I've ever lived through. Now I know how so many folks felt when Tom Seaver was traded in 1977. Farewell Pete. You may be an Oriole now, but you'll always be our Polar Bear.

Five years ago, my queer retelling of a Christmas story or song landed on Jingle Bells, with "A Day (or Two) Ago."

This one doesn’t have a grand story. It was mostly "I need to pick a retelling, but my arm is barely working, and it feels like the world is on fire."

"Let’s just do something fun."

Six years ago "The Doors of Penlyon Place" was my annual queer retelling of a holiday story and this was absolutely the first time I chose a story that most people reacted with "Sorry, what is this based on?"

"The Christmas Hirelings" is definitely *not* as popular as, say, "A Christmas Carol."

Eight years go—and my third annual retelling of a holiday tale through a queer lens—was "Reflection."

The Snow Queen, but retold with Kai not being kidnapped, but rather realizing he’d be better off with the Queen, who—like him—doesn’t love the way he’s "supposed" to.

Nine years ago on December 14th I posted "Frost." Facebook had reminded me about how I’d written "Dolph" the year before, and I thought it might be fun do do it again.

That officially turned it into a tradition, one I’ve keep up since.

Next was Frosty the Snowman, queered up a notch or two.
