There are many things I love about Finland but somehow the fact it's the sort of country to make another country go "Who shall we send as ambassador...? I know! THIS guy!!!" kinda captures the essence of ALL of it.

Reminder: you don't have to engage with AI as an instructor. You can talk about AI--even build AI literacy, if you want to call it that--and still not engage directly with a brutal, unethical, ecologically disastrous bundle of technologies. Regardless of institutional pressure, you can refuse.

The least interesting uses of the whole AI tech stack is in trying to make it more human. We solved making humans ages ago, really well. There are something like 8 billion of them in fact.
Because we already have things that make pictures and write stuff and create videos. They’re called………. ARTISTS. There is nothing interesting and novel and revolutionary about making shitty, derivative text or pictures unless you are incredibly incurious and easily impressed.

SISU is free to watch on Tubi. Great if you want to watch a mostly silent Finnish protagonist kill a shitload of Nazis up close and personal. Action’s a bit over the top, very bloody, and occasionally borderline body horror.

The Running Man is really fucking fun! Recommend. Dark fun and excellent action. The only complaint I really have is that it’s got three endings and it really should have stopped after the first. Just some massive selling past the close.
