Kemi Badenoch blames those crossing borders for our problems. It’s a lie aimed to distract.

The real issue is a system protecting the super-rich while nurses & carers can’t make ends meet. Tax wealth fairly, fund public services properly. This is how we give Britain hope again.

If this continues UK parties will either need to accommodate & make electoral deals or develop a culture of compromise & cooperation for coming coalitions. Maybe it is time to invest in local assemblies in order to inform national policy?

I’m voting @greenparty.org.uk @zackpolanski.bsky.social

Four parties within a 5 point swing of first place and five parties on 12% plus.

This would be pure chaos under first past the post.

I joined the Greens in June. Conference last weekend felt like a kind of homecoming. I’ve been adrift these last few years, mourning Alice, despairing at a ruling class that seems intents on heaping misery on all minorities. In the depths of grief hope wasn’t enough, but now it breaths life into me.

I said that @greenparty.org.uk membership is rising by 1000 new people a day.

I was wrong.

Yesterday we welcomed 2000 new people.

The terror of this regime will forever change the BRAINS AND DNA of our children & grandchildren. Yes indeed. The impact of trauma is profound. It extends into future generations.

I find it difficult to read this. Looking east, no Kars but I see Ararat / Ağrı Dağı but nearby Üç Kilise? What’s that now? Great find.

Washington Post dismantled the platform Jamal wrote on. Discarded the fellowship they created in his memory.

They fired me unjustly for speaking the truth.

But I’ll never stop talking about my friend, writer, and amazing human, Jamal Khashoggi.

RIP, Jamal.

While saying they want to "preserve nature" the Conservative Party have just pledged to scrap the Climate Change Act.

This makes no sense.

How do more floods, more droughts, and rising temperatures "preserve" nature?

That's what scrapping the Act will lead to.

"Despite comprehensive evidence and a variety of sources, the [Bahraini] government’s account is presented as authoritative, even in the absence of evidence."

The U.S. Department of State’s Bahrain Human Rights Report is Woefully Inadequate
Like other country entries, the Bahrain chapter of the 2024 U.S. State Department Report on Human Rights Practices fails to provide an authoritative or realistic account of the human rights situation ...

The reporting on Charlie Kirk’s killer in the UK & US highlights again how fundamentally ill equipped mainstream media is to report on political violence in the digital age.

They do not know anything about online far right meme culture & it’s starting to do real harm. #r4today

📜 A Letter of Gratitude from the Chief Rabbinate of Istanbul to the Ottoman Empire, Which Compassionately Embraced the #Jews Who Were Forced to Leave Their Homeland, 1877 [𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁]
"Chief Rabbinate of Istanbul

The sultans of the glorious Ottoman dynasty, those great figures who elevated their renown by valiantly striving to make the world a better place through justice and mercy, have extraordinarily proven on the stage of history the principle of protecting the weak embodied in the lofty edifice of Ottomanism. Our benefactor, His Majesty the Sultan, in accordance with the gracious deeds of his glorious forefathers, continually bestows favors and brings joy to all. Through His Majesty’s benevolence and the unceasing assistance he has shown for the settlement of the Jews who were compelled to abandon their homelands, those who have arrived thus far have been placed in suitable regions. They have expressed their gratitude for the compassion and mercy they received by shedding tears of joy and happiness. Just as the glorious ancestors of His Majesty demonstrated greatness by accepting and protecting helpless refugees in the past, so too has our benefactor, His Majesty the Sultan, brought joy by aiding the orphaned refugees even to the extent of saving them from death. Therefore, all Jews, young and old alike, offer their prayers with these words:

My Sultan, who bestows blessings upon the helpless,
My Sovereign, who shows kindness to the forsaken,
His grace and benevolence have delighted and gladdened all,
May God, who blesses His servants, prolong the Sultan’s life.

I dare to present, with my gratitude, that they pray thus. And when this humble declaration reaches Your Majesty, know that in all circumstances, command, decree, and boundless mercy belong to our glorious Sultan, our just Khan, our benefactor who expects nothing in return, the benefactor of the world, our master."

Your lowly servant
Chief Rabbi of Istanbul
