The thing about a lot of these never Trump Republicans is that, unlike a lot of institutionalist Dems who think the fever will break and we can all return to comity or whatever, these guys saw the rot up close and know the only appropriate response is to tear them out of government root and branch.

This system isn’t failing it’s functioning exactly as it was designed, to uphold white supremacy, capitalism, and colonial violence. The U.S. government is not broken, it is illegitimate a settler colonial regime built on stolen land, genocide, and exploitation.

As far as I know, use of less-lethal weapons — mostly teargas and other chemical irritants — was intentionally limited by Cap Police on Jan 6 to avoid escalation and “visuals.”
