Time for a master thread on all the reasons we are headed for a (likely very bad and prolonged) recession. First, tariffs. So much stove-touching you can’t believe it. www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/lut...
Lutnick says Trump's policies are "worth it" even if they lead to recession
The president's tariff announcements have rocked the stock markets and fueled concerns of an economic downturn.

It’s so funny they go so far right, they come all the way around and invent the Affordable Care Act
Rand Paul on his healthcare plan: "What if you could join Costco? Costco has 44m members and if one person negotiated for all 44 and they bought a group plan like Toyota or General Motors does, they would be the largest collective entity in the country. They would drive prices down by sheer might."

I hate to be “that guy” but the video circulating of RFK Jr is edited in a way that makes it look like he cant do a pull up. But he did like 20 pull ups, which is extremely hard and frankly insane for a 71 yr old. He is on steroids!!! We should talk more about that!

She keeps telling the media she won’t repeat it. There’s no reason to not read at least some of it; what does he do, text u your social security number
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I sent those deaths threats directly to him in a text message & informed him of what his name calling & words were doing - it was a direct assassination threat on my son. And he was extremely - I won't repeat what he said - but it was extremely unkind. No sympathy. No care"

Feels like an eternity ago now, but we caught an agent doing this (seemingly recording people, at least momentarily) outside Broadview in September. He was adjusting/ turning the glasses on and off as he heckled protesters:

hoping the EU has the sack to fight fire with fire. all Trump aligned oligarchs, above all Elon Musk, should be considered enemies of European freedom
This is far beyond 'NATO as we've known it is done.'

"The Trump administration had “a clear and consistent vision for Europe: one that prioritises US-Russia ties and seeks to divide and conquer the continent, with much of the dirty work carried out by nationalist, far-right European forces.”

how many deaths and decades and weird performances like this are required before we just nationalize healthcare like a civilized society

In fact moderation is on by default so if you don't want to see nudes you know where to go to solve your own fucking problem because you had to turn those setting off.
Saw someone saying you shouldn't interact with NSFW accounts online if your account isn't also purely NSFW and FUCK THAT BULLSHIT.

They can adjust their settings to avoid nudes and porn. You do whatever the fuck you want to do you freaks 😘💙

Have you seen this (AI-generated) man? Police swap suspect sketches for AI.
Police in a Phoenix suburb appear to be the first department in the nation to use AI for suspect sketches, a practice that raises concerns among some experts.

Very happy to see this, even outmatched candidates in hopeless districts can help run up the numbers statewide
Texas Democrats just did something historic under the leadership of new state party chair @kendallscudder.bsky.social. We have filed a candidate in EVERY 2026 race.

U.S. Senate: 1 of 1
U.S. House: 38 of 38
State Senate: 15 of 15
State House: 150 of 150
State Board of Education: 8 of 8
We Did It, Texas Dems, We Did It
Candidates in every legislative, statewide, and federal race. Now it’s time to build power where it counts.

They're run by a MAGA fascist and her billionaire backers who spread the murderous “Great Replacement” conspiracy. It’s unforgivable that mainstream news outlets from CNN to NYT have quoted a libsoftiktok-style hatemonger as reputable source on antisemitism. It’s like citing the KKK on civil rights.

headline isn’t really accurate bc Gonzales seems more averse to the label than to DSA itself, but still unfortunate to see an unforced error like this on day 1. Zohran/Bernie/AOC’s success cannot be decoupled from their honesty about being democratic socialists
NEW: Progressive State Sen. Julie Gonzales is dropping her Democratic Socialist affiliation as she challenges Sen. John Hickenlooper (D-CO).

Gonzales told me she is no longer a member of the DSA.
