It’s the time of year for mentioning one of my favourite ‘untranslatables’.
‘Poronkusema’, in Finnish, once denoted a distance of around 7.5km, which is roughly how long a reindeer can last before needing to urinate. ‘Poronkusema’ means ‘reindeer pee’.

I also like The Cranberries for non-Christmas Christmas music and not just because of their name... but also because of their name.
When Christmas in the shop starts to get on my nerves, I play Annie Lennox's solo albums. Her music is like a fresh snowfall that calms everything down. For me, "No More I Love Yous" will always be a Christmas song.
This thread offers a valuable solution to the problem of Christmas song overload/fatigue. We have far more options than we think.

Put on Mull of Kintyre which I always think of as a Christmas song, and just checked and it is a Christmas number one, so that’s fine.
I move to recategorise all Xmas no 1s as “Christmas songs” to increase the set of permissible tunes in the advent period. So: Mr Blobby counts.
