"The fervent popularity of Heated Rivalry suggests that for many, the real romantasy is not sex and romance with dragons and fairies, but sex and romance without misogyny and gendered hierarchy."
I spoke to women (and one man) about what they find so hot about Heated Rivalry.

"The main reason I read MM is I just absolutely cannot stand reading or watching women suffer at the hands of men – in any way, big or small, anymore... We, as women, can just watch this and relax.”
Women are feral for Heated Rivalry. What does that say about men?
The explosive popularity of the gay hockey TV drama reveals women’s desire for sex and romance without violence or hierarchy

It's 10am in Minneapolis and rapid response is underwater, reports of chemicals deployed already.

As others have pointed out, the ratio of feds (with more arriving) to residents and square mileage here is extreme compared to what we experienced in Chicago.

We are in freefall.

On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself.

Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right

Obviously, everything Trump says here is awful, but I'm really stuck on him referring to Becca Good as Renee's "friend."
The new Trump line is that if you "disrespect" a law enforcement officer, he is entitled to murder you... unless it's Jan 6, of course, in which case the protester is entitled to murder the law enforcement officer.

Justice Barrett sidestepped the Fourteenth Amendment’s requirements by embracing ignorance about the history of government-approved discrimination against transgender people

A group of experts on the history of LGBTQ rights are now trying to take that excuse away

Barrett thinks transgender people have been subjected to “relatively little” discrimination. This amicus brief aims to set the record straight.

It already is consistent with other law enforcement agencies, this is the problem
Q: Is it your posture to put restrictions on ICE as a condition for funding DHS?

JEFFRIES: Renee Good should be alive. There was no justification. There are common sense measures that need to put in place so ICE can conduct itself in manner at least consistent w/ every other law enforcement agency

I mean, putting the lady who bragged about shooting her dog for no good reason in charge of DHS was just one warning of many...
We are far past the stage of permissiveness with white-supremacist violence inside DHS. We are witnessing ICE transition into a death squad.

This cannot be reformed. The only question is who will fight to abolish it, and who will accommodate it instead.
Either ICE Is Abolished or It Will Kill Many More Renee Goods
Minnesota is just the beginning of ICE's transformation into a right-wing death squad. But it can be the end

The Powell witch-hunt is not about revenge. It’s not about monetary policy. It’s about power. As is ICE. As is Venezuela. As is the fact that he does not intend to give up power in 2028.

There seems to be a fundamental belief on the right, for years now, that they and their ideas should be afforded more respect. It is one of the reasons they are so angry. They feel unfairly slighted. They've lost social status. And they think it is ok to kill people who don't give them respect.
Q: "Do you believe that deadly force was necessary?"

Trump: "It was highly disrespectful of law enforcement. The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement…Law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with this stuff."

ICE's unsustainable operational tempo combined with the quota pressure, their obvious fear of regular citizens and overall lack of training will inevitably lead to them shooting and killing people.

But let's be clear that ICE kills Angelenos every day. Deporting refugees is murder.

She couldn't process it. She was just disappointed dawg

Such a clear crystallization of Trumpism as a political project: Redraw the lines of who belongs, who is legitimate, who is part of the “Volk.”

And if they decide you are not, you have forfeited not only your rights and protections as a citizen, but also your humanity, your very right to live.
When the State Terrorizes the People

The killing of Renee Good reveals, yet again, Trumpism’s violent, authoritarian essence. MAGA is at war with the reality of American society.

It is ok for us to kill you and if you oppose us we will kill you more."
Homan: "We gotta stop the hateful rhetoric. Saying this officer is a murderer is dangerous. It's just ridiculous. It's gonna infuriate people more which means there's gonna be more incidents like this."
