Galway City Council's Mayor and its Chief Executive have both welcomed the decision by An Coimisiún Pleanála to grant planning approval for the Dublin Road BusConnects project in Galway City, which includes upgrades for pedestrians, cycling and bus users. The near-4km project is part of BusConnects Galway and runs along what is known as the Old Dublin Road project from the Moneenageisha Junction to the Doughiska Junction and connects to the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Galway, Merlin Park Hospital, the Bon Secours Hospital, and a number of schools and housing areas.

After cameras were installed in Toronto:
🔹 Share of vehicles speeding ⬇️ 45%
🔹 85th percentile speed ⬇️ 10.7 km/h

Droivers speeding the most were most likely to slow down.

I often think about how so many cities are absolutely AGONIZING over the idea of turning a single street, or even a block, into a people-place and pedestrian stroll, while thriving communities like Gràcia in Barcelona are filled with so many streets & squares with no cars, or at most “tamed” cars.”
