- A story about a Black woman in Zimbabwe who deals with the corruption of the men around her.

Setting Backstory: Once upon a time there was a war between two mages, full of devastation and destruction. In the end, the Storm Mage evacuated a swathe of land, lured the Fire Mage to it, and put up a barrier around them both to keep everyone else out.

There was a deer in one of the pit traps. Dan took a step back out of caution, and circled the pit, looking for a good place to strike. At least in the pit, he didn't have to worry about it charging him

Unpopular opinion: Treating an entire demographic - ANY demographic - like an interchangable monolith is akin to treating people as things.

I don't want to be rich. I want to be not scared shitless of getting sick because of how expensive it will be. I want to be reasonably sure I can remain housed. I want enough clarity to write my stories knowing they make a few people feel better. When we feel better we do better. That's proven math.

IMO every publication and every publisher should have a clear statement about their generative AI policy. To dictate what is acceptable writer usage, yes, but also to declare their own usage (or lack thereof). Do they use it for slushreading, editing, illustration, correspondence?

The wilds were an ever interconnected web of interactions. If you wanted fish in your lake or rivers, then the fish needed plants or insects or both to feed it and shade it, shelter it and nurture it, all of which had their own needs to fill.
