It was also racism. There's pretty decent research showing that the open up arguments started when the early data showed that communities of color were disproportionately affected. And we never shifted from that even when white people started dying in greater numbers
I firmly believe that this--anti-mask/free-floating ableism re COVID--is one of the reasons why people became cruel, disaffected and disarticulated enough from any sense of the collective good, disarticulated enough to happily usher in technofascism.
Cool how the net result of COVID-19 wasn't preventing deaths or changing society for the better or anything it was just letting all of you normal people indulge in your complete sociopathy toward the disabled freely and without restraint

A new analysis by Stanford epidemiologists predicts that measles could become endemic again in the US in the next 20 years.

This would be a catastrophic failure and a result of anti-vax propaganda. Measles is a vaccine-preventable disease that was declared eliminated in the US in 2000.

Do you want more injured meat processing plant workers? Because this is how you get more injured meat processing plant workers.

The majority of this hard, dirty work is performed by Black and Latino immigrants. Of course the Trump regime has no problem sacrificing them www.usda.gov/about-usda/n...

For a long time, I thought ditching beef would mean missing out on some grand connection I'd gain at the table. For @vox.com, I wrote about reconnecting with Indigenous foodways, while also acknowledge the cultural pull of beef — as a Texan. www.vox.com/future-perfe...
I’m the daughter of a cattle rancher. Could I ever ditch beef?
Beef is tied to my cultural identity — because of its complicated, colonial history.

Again “Elon Musk’s team” is literally just some guys. They’re not government officials and no one elected them and no congressional committee approved them. This is a smash and grab, out in the open.
