We should not forget that Alice Wong could only go to college because she had access to Medicaid. People with disabilities can only thrive and survive if society chooses to invest in them the way it invests in everyone else.

If you’re in the public health space and continue to be confused, read this. I cannot tell you how badly the “public health isn’t political” nonsense has harmed us.
Destroy the Metrics, Destroy the Truth
Trump’s decimation of public health systems isn’t about efficiency, cost-saving, or even ideology. It’s about building a world without truth or the possibility of accountability.

When you read the comments (I know), the stories of peoples' experiences with burdens are heartbreaking--and inevitably involve the most vulnerable beneficiaries. As a parent whose child has a significant disability, they're also kind of terrifying to read.

Medicaid’s been getting the headlines, but the Republicans are coming after the ACA, too.

Between Medicaid cuts, ACA cuts, and failure to extend Biden-era ACA subsidies, an estimated 14 million people will lose insurance because of Republican policies.
Covered California (CA’s ACA marketplace) is projecting that 30% of people enrolled through Covered California will lose/drop marketplace coverage as a result of Republican cuts.

Again, I ask, where is the health care industry lobby?

This is 600,000 fewer marketplace plans in California, alone.

Think Medicaid is just for doctor visits? Think again.

- The wheelchair that helps someone get to work
- The personal aide that allows someone to live within their own home
- The therapy that helps a child speak their first words

A great and terrible example of how interconnected all of this is / all of us are. None of us are free until all of us are free.

So, if you haven’t registered or recently moved or anything like that, you can register at your polling place (with ID and proof of residence) TODAY.

Every state should do this. It’s great that Wisconsin does this. Go vote.
