This post doesn't even make sense. What is "the left" doing or not doing? How on earth is any of the "doomerism" self serving hype? And which part is even the doomerism?! "My employer blamed AI for firing me" is not doomerism, it's just a thing that is happening.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

Maybe it's just me, but I actually don't want better trained nazis. Like the one thing we got going for is right now is they suck at everything they do.
I won’t support additional funding for ICE unless we put guardrails in place to make sure ICE is better trained and actually focused on making our communities safer.

Ive been wondering... As more developers become reliant on LLM coding, are they even going to be able to pass hiring code tests anymore? It seems like companies demanding constant LLM use are setting employees up for future hardship when they too are inevitably laid off.
