Right-wing activists are lining the streets of Dublin with Irish tricolour flags in a campaign that is dividing communities and fuelling a bitter debate about immigration.

An Coimisiún Pleanála, the national planning board, has approved the MetroLink Railway Order with conditions. The approval is confirmed on the planning board's website. MetroLink, which is to have 16 stations along an 18.8km line, will link Swords, Dublin Airport, Ballymun, Dublin City University, Glasnevin, Phibsborough, and the inner city including at the Mater Hospital, O’Connell Street, Tara Street, and St Stephen’s Green. It will terminate at Charlemont Luas Stop where there are different options for continuing the line southwards.
