One of the reasons why I go so hard on science misinformation/disinformation, is that as a working scientist it is frustrating to see your research misreported to push an agenda.

The games industry brings in 300 billion dollars a year. The guy who made DOOM gets his projects canceled, the guy who made Katamari Damacy is broke, everyone in your feed is begging for a job and there are 50 new games coming out on Steam every day all going towards buying Gabe Newell's next yacht

when someone tampers with physical mail, there's clearly visible evidence. we understand what intercepted or redacted speech looks like on paper. but somehow when it happens digitally, even when we can see it happening, we don't conceptualize it as the same thing, as the same severity of violation
i don't think invisible infrastructure is good for a society, because it's not easy for the average person to conceptualize when it's being tampered with

Two cabins were torched over the weekend at the Mi’kmaw Land Protectors Hunter’s mountain camp.

I learned a LOT from her & other disability activists about MAID (Medical Assistance in Dying) laws in Canada, which changed my thinking abt liberal pols supporting a right to die but NOT supporting palliative care, housing, counseling…ie not supporting a right to LIFE for “disposable” ppl

Through out her life, Alice Wong was encouraged to feel like a burden, to just go away. She refused.
Disability is often the result of a "terminal disease." But people with disabilities can, and do, lead lives of dignity. Death should not be seen as the most noble or "dignified" option for them.
