About half the money a general practice receives is from the global sum payment, this is money for delivering the core parts of it contract. This sum is calculated using a number of factors. Find out more about what these are in our explainer. https://bit.ly/4pRAkG3

Average real wage of UK workers is stuck the 2008 level.

Some bosses are collecting 1,112 times more than the average employee wage. Millions forced to rely on food banks and charity.

Workers have no say in income distribution. Govts do nothing.

Can't build economy/society on huge inequalities.
The government must ensure fair distribution of income
'The average real wage of workers has hardly moved from the 2008 level whilst bosses never had it so good.'

Just as COVID never ended so too the Spanish flu pandemic never ended either. But we now have the technology to end them both with an indoor air revolution. Two birds, one stone #COVIDisAirborne #InfluenzaIsAirborne

Not feeling too thrilled about this 'investment' given that the USA is rapidly turning into a dystopian hellscape under the rule of a mad dictator who is in turn just a sock puppet for corporate greed. With 'friends' like this, we don't need enemies. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Even if you aren’t masking anywhere else it still makes sense to wear a mask in medical settings & pharmacies because there’s a greater chance of being close to someone contagious & there are more people who are at higher risk in these places. Masking in these settings both protects you & others.
luckytran.com
I really think there should be a continued public health push to have people wear a mask in pharmacies and medical settings since that is where sick people and people who are higher risk can be found frequently. It has never made any public health sense to loosen those precautions.

"For years, the Forest Service had barred workers from wearing masks, arguing that they were too cumbersome for the job. But current and former officials have said the agency did not want to deal with the potentially costly consequences of admitting the long-term dangers of smoke exposure."

So this whole time, the Forest Service *wouldn't let* firefighters wear N95 masks or respirators to protect themselves while battling wildfires? This makes me really, really angry.

Some 241 million years ago in what is now England, a tiny, lizardlike creature had teeth well suited for snapping after insects.

Now named Agriodontosaurus helsbypetrae, this extinct reptile may be the oldest of its kind ever found. https://scim.ag/3V75MC5

Next-generation COVID-19 vaccine shows stronger protection against new variants.

The vaccine ARCT-2303 uses self-amplifying mRNA (sa-mRNA) to direct cells to make more viral protein, training the immune system and producing a stronger, longer-lasting response than traditional mRNA vaccines.
Next-generation COVID-19 vaccine shows stronger protection against new variants
The Doherty Institute has contributed to an international clinical trial using next-generation COVID-19 vaccines and mRNA technology, which shows a new COVID-19 vaccine (ARCT-2303) offers stronger protection against Omicron and can be given safely alongside the flu shot.

He's a lying sycophant who would happily sell the people voting for him into indentured servitude if it got him an ounce of power. I continue to be astonished by any working class voters deluding themselves into thinking that this man cares about any of us.

Unveiling the cover for THE DRAGON HAS SOME COMPLAINTS!

Garrodigh is a curmudgeonly three-headed dragon who pretends to be tame so he can eat for free at the local dragon-riding academy. Unfortunately, the rider he's assigned to is... a lot.

Coming Summer 2026 from DAW (US) and Arcadia (UK)!
A cover illustrated by James Fenner. A woman with long red hair and padded clothing sits on the ground, petting the head of a smiling serpentine dragon. But the dragon has more than one head! On the left, a second giant dragon head emerges, frowning, looking at her while wearing a monocle. On the right, a third giant dragon head emerges, jaws wide, screaming in anger. The text is teal, contrasting sharply against the red and maroon of the creatures. The text on the cover reads "THE DRAGON HAS SOME COMPLAINTS. JOHN WISWELL, author of the Nebula and Locus Award-winning SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN."
