I've been seeing my favorite fuzzy friends around! 🍂🐛
Illustration of a wooly (sometimes spelled woolly) bear caterpillar. It's fuzzy and cute and has a happy little smile. There's lines radiating around it and above it says "it's wooly time!" in lowercase hand lettering. The background is a light orange checkered pattern.

Today in I CANNOT BELIEVE I did not know about this word until now:

I learned about snarge.

Snarge: What is...er...left...when a bird and a plane collide. The bird bits, specifically.

Obviously I knew about birdstrikes but SNARGE?!

Feathers And Snarge: Identifying What’s Left After Birds And Planes Collide
There’s a CSI lab for birds that strike airplanes. The species that hits most often? Not the one you’d guess.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

My first pseudoscorpion observation was pure luck. Happen to see this wasp and took a shot. It was only later did I see what was hanging on the antenna.

Super stoked about these new beetle jelly charms that will be live on Friday! Was trying to thinking of something buggy and timely for Halloween but not strictly Halloweeny... and this is what I came up with! This is kind of like candy for bugs if you think about it 🍭
#bugsky
2 matching keychains with different beetles on beetle jelly. They are made of translucent frosted acrylic and one is green jelly with a blue death feigning beetle, and the other is pink jelly with a rainbow stag beetle.

Cooloola monsters are weird, chunky insects endemic to South East Queensland, Australia. They're probably related to king crickets (Anostostomatidae), but not much is known about their evolution. The wingless females live permanently underground. #EverydayEnsifera

I'm horrified.
I'm angry.

very silly #SciArt doodle of a mosquito and a beefly going trick or treating, the mosquito is wearing a needle strap and is dressed up as a holotype specimen, the beefly is in a little blue sample tube and is a DNA reference specimen, they both had little pumpkin baskets filled with candy.
