Fun fact... autistic people are often rule followers...

We are also more likely to have extremely strong convictions...

So, if the rules are aligned with our values, we are steadfast. But if the rules don't make sense to us or seem arbitrary, we can suddenly seem like rebellious rule breakers.

RFK Jr is directly responsible for the deaths of 83 children in American Samoa from measles because he told them to stop vaccinating. Now, he's trying to kill trans kids. He's a fucking psychopath.
HHS is trying to force Seattle Children's into doing a Sophie's choice of abandoning trans youth or see kids with cancer or other serious illness have their coverage and care disrupted. That's what this is about.

Hopefully, the courts put a quick stop to this like the subpoenas.

This is a baffling decision by the SMH. The article is kind and generous, and exactly the kind of unity and social cohesion that everyone (SMH included) says that Australia needs right now. So why delete it?
On Wednesday the Sydney Morning Herald published an opinion piece by Cumberland City councillor Ahmed Ouf about Muslim-Jewish solidarity in the wake of Bondi.

The piece was quickly taken down.

We're publishing it here in full.

A New Thread on NIH Forward Funding

I recently posted an analysis of forward funding of NIH grants from 2015-25.

This analysis was flawed and should be ignored. I apologize for the misleading information

I present an analysis of my error and a revised analysis which I am confident is right.

Multi-Year funding analysis, a 🧵

I have been trying to find a robust way of quantifying and understanding multi-year (forward funding).

First, some background:

Most NIH grants are for multiple years (2 to 5, typically).

However, the are usually funded on an annual basis.

A short story about our heroes inside NIH:

Between a Trump-imposed freeze on grant-making in Jan/Feb and new political hurdles in spring & early summer, NIH was in trouble.

By the end of June, NIH was 8,300 grants and $3.1 billion behind its FY24 pace. Morale was in the toilet. Things were bleak.
