Yesterday, I went to an ICE check-in with 16-year-old Joel Camas and his lawyer, who expected him to be out in time for school by 8am because he has special immigrant juvenile (SIJ) status. Instead, he was detained.

Here is what happened (free link):

NEW: Immigrants complain of inhumane conditions at ICE holding cells in NYC.

No showers or changing clothes. Sometimes only one meal per day. Over 100 people in small rooms. Sleeping on benches, the floor, or sitting up, due to lack of space.

There are only a few days left for lawmakers to pass legislation that will prohibit state and local agencies from collab’ing w/ ICE.

Everyone can contribute to social movements.

Everyone can do something, from somewhere.

None of this is about "professionalism" or policy"expertise. That is counterinsurgency, demobilizing logic.

Everyone can organize and has something to offer.
