They can do this to a sitting US Senator at a press conference for asking questions? This is fascism.
California Sen. Alex Padilla was just forcibly removed from a DHS press conference and handcuffed.

"I am Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary."

It's people like Marc Elias and Bruce Springsteen that give me hope America will survive this madness. The article finishes with a quote, sited by Bruce, from American writer James Baldwin, “In this world, there isn’t as much humanity as one would like, but there’s enough.”
"Springsteen didn’t pull any punches — no references to 'our national divide' or 'both sides' or 'polarization.' He was direct, angry and precise in his language." - @guitarwatson.bsky.social

The earthquake in southern California was a nothing burger. But I did get an earthquake warning about 10 seconds before I felt it. That's a big improvement from past alerts.

Citizens United wasn't the first nail in the coffin for U.S. Democracy, but it's the biggest. Democrats must run on undoing the damage by reinstituting limits on political contributions and removing dark money from the system.
The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.

Anyone who says that we are not already in a constitutional crisis is either complicit, ignorant, or not paying attention.
And there happens also to be another Supreme Court case that says that the president can’t refuse to make expenditures authorized by Congress unless Congress authorizes him not to
So there happens to be a Supreme Court case that addresses whether and how federal funds can be used to indirectly regulate policy in the states. Among other things, the goal must be related to the original purpose of the funds and it cannot be unduly coercive.

In 1979, Jimmy Carter had solar panels installed at the White House.

Ronald Reagan had them removed.

We may be able to trace back the current "Do Harmful Things if it Trolls the Libs" Republicanism to Reagan removing those panels the far more forward thinking Carter had installed.
