I love anime adaptations of classic literature, because sometimes it'll be fairly faithful and gentle, and other times "The year is 2096. The citizens of the Ophelia District don't know that their king is secretly an assassin with paranormal abilities. His code name? HAM.LET."

Here's a humbling thing that has happened to me a few times over the years: I try to write an opinion piece or argumentative take. For some reason, I can't crack it. I do draft after draft. Something isn't working. I don't know what.

Then, finally, I figure it out.

My opinion is wrong.

I find people's 'my favourite whatever' lists interesting, but I find making these choices impossible personally. My favourite book? Right now? Last year? Five years ago? As a kid? For plot? For character? For relaxation? For a mental challenge? OK, I've got ten titles for each category, now what?
