Great showing at Missoula's Hands Off rally today!

It was an honor to get to speak briefly, and to introduce the folks doing amazing work on the ground here in Missoula.

California friends, please read this and help change this law so victims of assault don't end up being jailed just for calling for help.
Okay, all. I have a call to action for all CA residents.

If you're not a CA resident, please help share and boost?

1. Most of you know what happened to me last month. If not, my @calmatters.org op-ed was posted this morning.

I'm working on changing the penal code.
How a well-intended California domestic violence law results in victims being arrested | Opinion
The California Penal Code requires officers to make an arrest in domestic violence incidents, sometimes leading to victims being detained.

Hey the news is terrifying, let’s distract ourselves briefly. What’s a target bird species you’d like to see this spring?

Worm-eating Warblers have never been reported from my backyard park and I’ve never seen one in Ohio, but it’s a ravine with steep ivy-covered slopes like they like so 🤞

It's really easy to feel lost and overwhelmed with the current political situation. One thing that helps me is remembering that we're not alone and we're joining a historical legacy of struggle.

So, I'll share a leftist/anti-fascist song every day on here using #DailyAntiFascJam

If they don't tip the ears they have no way of knowing which cats have been fixed. Needing to repeatedly trap and sedate millions of feral/stray cats to look closer for signs of neutering would be an indescribably massive waste of time and resources, not to mention unnecessary stress for the cats.

💉🧵The trend to ban mRNA vaccines is extremely concerning. Montana recently voted down a ban and Idaho is introducing a bill to criminalize their use. mRNA vaccines have been studied since 1990 and are a critical scientific advancement. An mRNA vaccine against pancreatic cancer is in clinical trials

#TBT to some tiny paper wasps (iirc, under 1 cm.) in Mozambique. One thing I never noticed before: look how they hold their wings, tucked under their abdomens, instead of held alongside or above. I don't know why. These made very small, flat, cryptic nests, parallel to the tree trunk. 🐙🌿 #insects

This Gophersnake (Pituophis catenifer) put on a fierce display when I found her mid-road in Dundy County, Nebraska—hissing, flattening her head, and vibrating her tail. All bluff, no venom.

After a photo, I moved her off the road. Bullsnakes control rodents and deserve respect, not fear. 🐍

Hey folks outside the US:

I know folks around the globe are (very rightfully) livid and scared about the US political situation.

But many (possibly the majority) of us in the US are too right now! Something to consider before you jump into our mentions to tell us our suffering is our own fault.
