The nationalist right is arguing that people should lose UK citizenship because of views they express. The government is not rejecting this outright. Yet another total failure of leadership. It's pointless hoping for Starmer to do better. He can't. It's not going to happen.

I already agree with this in principle - citizenship is an untouchable status or it is nothing - but also for reasons of prudence. “The Home Sec can revoke citizenship when he/she deems someone’s online output sufficiently offensive” is a v dangerous precedent to set with Reform leading all polls.
Hell, I'm not convinced we should revoke citizenship at all.

But certainly not for being a twat online.

Ah fuck off. I have no time for Labourites who think their internal squabbles are the be all and end all of British politics. Grow the fuck up, and see the damage your government is doing to the country

This latest shitshow is another reminder why Starmer needs to go - not in May but now. He is not willing or capable of playing the role of PM. He is vindicating the far-right and demoralising the left. He should be removed for being bad for the country not merely losing Labour elections

A thoroughly depressing read. It could be that the liberal, open, outward looking Spain that I fell in love with 40+ years ago - and which flourished under both centre-left and centre-right governments - will soon give way to something far darker and more reactionary. If so, it will not end well.

Britain's Right have gone completely off the deep end into an invented fantasy world. The country as a whole agrees with them on almost nothing - culture, identity, religion, human rights, Europe, public services. Yet they could easily hold power in just 3.5 years. Won't end well.

You can just see from walking around regional cities how un-dense they are. Even Manchester, which remains busy with a mega building spree, has a city centre that stops dead and turns into a series of sparsely developed gaps.
V good this. Would add: we also need to demolish more!
British cities are too flat — and it’s holding back housing supply.

Our new blog shows a big density gap with France and Japan, driven by missing mid-rise homes.

Spain should deport these violence-inciting foreigners who have no interest in integrating.
Just some British patriots in Benidorm, taking over a street in Spain to shout in their own language about unwanted foreigners. It’s a blessing that they are too thick to understand irony.

That’s why “blue Labour” is doomed and was doomed from the start: you cannot make water run uphill. A party whose core electorate for over a decade has been socially liberal university graduates and ethnic minorities cannot sell itself as a party hostile to socially liberal values.
