Thank you for the admission, time to abolish it.
Mike Johnson: "ICE is doing what ICE is designed to do"
Mike Johnson comes out against additional guardrails on ICE as Democrats call for it.

“I think there's a lot of Democrats playing games right now with national security and with law enforcement. And I think it's dangerous. Ice is doing what ice is designed to do by its very name.”

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

+ Dems need to be seen taking action NOW protecting people. Where are the local cops and national guard? Why are everyday people the only ones protecting their families and neighbors?

This is a breakdown in civil society and Democratic leaders need to recognize and do something now to address it.

This poll shows that 74% of Democrats support abolishing ICE, with 53% *strongly* supporting getting rid of the agency.

Any elected Democrat who wants ICE to exist is outside the mainstream of their party and the people they purport to represent.
YouGov poll - In the future, would you support or oppose...

Eliminating ICE as a federal agency?
Support 42%
Oppose 45%

Reducing ICE’s size and funding
Support 48%
Oppose 37%

It would take a two-word amendment to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 to subject ICE agents and other federal law enforcement officers to the same liability for constitutional violations that local and state officers currently face.

If Congress actually cared about what it's seeing, it could pass that overnight.

once again: ICE is operating as if they have a general warrant, the specific type of warrant the founders were most concerned about when drafting the 4th Amendment
Not remotely legal. Minnesota needs to arrest these thugs breaking down doors right now, before they start grabbing even more power

I think the DOJ criminal probe is the biggest threat to federal reserve independence since its formation. Hard to overstate the chill for officials making policy under threat of criminal prosecution. Shows there is no independent fed without an independent DOJ.

Disrespect is now punishable by death.
Q: "Do you believe that deadly force was necessary?"

Trump: "It was highly disrespectful of law enforcement. The woman and her friend were highly disrespectful of law enforcement…Law enforcement should not be in a position where they have to put up with this stuff."

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

Tillis is spot on. The Senate can't confirm a Trump toady to succeed Powell at the Fed. The rest of the game is now out in the open, and it doesn't end well.

Democratic? I think you mean communist/command economies.

Trump clearly emulates Xi and is contorting the U.S. into a command economy (as well as kleptocracy).

Swalwell to @gregsargent.bsky.social: "I’m not voting to fund this ICE. I support getting rid of their immunity. I support requiring them to take off the masks ... This ICE is not what anybody asked for, and I’m not going to vote to continue it."

I’d be surprised if any European country goes to war with the U.S. — and Trump knows that. Heck, they couldn’t even muster the courage to go to war with Russia. Why does anyone rationally think they would suddenly have a different calculus and go to war with the U.S. over a non-European territory?
“Who in the United States of America wants a war between the United States and Europe … over GREENLAND??”
I can't believe I'm posting this video - but we actually have to have a conversation about the real world implications of America going to war over Greenland.

Let me walk you through it. It doesn't turn out well for us.

The reports of violence, arbitrary arrests, and intimidation tactics by the Iranian regime against its own people are profoundly concerning. Canada strongly condemns the killing of protesters, and urges Iran to allow for freedom of expression and peaceful assembly without fear of reprisal.
