If the Biden administration had sent federal agents to do a law enforcement operation 10X milder in a white suburban neighborhood in order to apprehend a serial pedophile and violent domestic abuser who happened to be a white Christian pastor, the MAGA crew would have reduced the country to rubble.
NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

This seems like the most straightforward and also basically accurate message.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

Should be pretty clear that without House commitment on a vote on ACA extensions, it is purely symbolic as part of the Senate deal
Q: Will you assure House Democrats they'll get a vote on ACA subsidies by a date certain?

MIKE JOHNSON: Ah -- no. I'm not promising anyone anything.

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

So the oldest person ever to become president keeps falling asleep in his office during public events and there’s no big public discussion on how this is a coverup or how republicans are lying to us about how this government is running?

Ya know, I was annoyed when I voted myself that my county lege seat was unopposed and R... but it was nice to see that the blue wave yesterday flipped our lege for the first time in 50 years, and that *every* seat that *was* contested went blue.

I love that Republicans have used the words woke and tariff so much that they've just lost all meaning. Like your friend who still brings up the same inside joke from high school at every class reunion.

What’s bizarre about this is that for my whole life Democrats have BEEN a party that primarily talks about middle-class tax cuts, health care, and helping poor kids.

Yglesias is describing the vast majority of their rhetoric, and saying “If only they could be this, they’ll win.” Evidently not?
I don't think it helps the debate about what Democrats should do to pick an obscure thing that some Democrat somewhere may have said -- like on teaching eighth grade algebra -- and then attribute it to Democrats generally.

This is largely it. It didn't matter what Dems said or pushed. The GOP? Trump drove the narrative of what the Dems were supposedly "emphasizing", often claiming it was things they never ever supported. Meanwhile things like Project 2025 were often dismissed as Dems being hysterical
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

The GOP campaigned on "We are better at government than the Democrats"

Enough voters believed them and gave them the keys to the government.

And now its "Its all Democrats' fault that we suck at governing"
Trump: "It's their fault. Everything is their fault."

It shouldn't just be on Democrats to have a conscience and compromise on the shutdown. Republicans control all branches of government.

It’s crazymaking to watch people nod sagely about findings that are just demonstrably untrue.

What is true, I think, is Dems keep trying to run cautious meat and potatoes races only to be tagged in the public mind with all the social issues their opponents obsess over and they leave unanswered.

The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.
Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇
