In our conservative estimate, 41 percent of Grok’s images — or 1.8 million — were sexualized depictions of women. Separately, CCDH analyzed how many were sexualized images across genders and ages. Their findings: an estimated 3 million images, including more than 23,000 of children.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

Taxes for thee but not for me
The IRS is effectively unable to audit private equity, venture capital, and real estate investment firms.

Thousands of workers have been fired from the agency since DOGE and the world's richest man took an ax to it.

Now audits of these giant enterprises have dropped 80 or 90%.

semi-regular reminder that ICE was only created in 2003

Congress can force ICE to release documents like these at any time, but doesn't because they do not do their jobs
ICE's use of force policy released under FOIA was almost completely redacted until it was accidentally released in court filing un-redacted. Read the full document here: www.kenklippenstein.com/p/exclusive-...

It seems the media's chosen framing for the US government's desire to invade and steal a European territory is that they're "Interested in *acquiring* Greenland"

SF's Empty Homes Tax would incentivize landlords to rent out empty units. EHT dedicates the tax revenue to rental subsidies and buying empty properties for affordable housing.

Voters passed it. Trial court blocked it. City appealed. No decision yet.

What happens on appeal will have a major impact.
SF’s ‘Empty Homes Tax’ officially on ice
Supes have suspended the voter-approved vacancy tax pending appeal.

I think for about 30% of the country, if they were president , they would go along with any covert operation no matter how illegal or idiotic just to be like "wow this like a movie". That 30 percent happens to be made up of Trump's base and everyone in who works in cable news

Given everything happening right now, I updated this article with options for weather apps, web forms, and translation services — along with some tweaks to existing categories.

I hope it helps your transition off US tech!
Silicon Valley’s alliance with Donald Trump was a mask off moment and showed the world we can’t depend on US tech companies.

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to get off US tech and I put together a guide so you find alternatives too. I hope you find it helpful!
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

The Abundance ™ thing is so gross because it slaps a nauseating, snobby name on and distorts the simple, popular message that government should do more and do it more efficiently, effectively, and accessibly than ever before. God speed king 🫡

Knives out are movies with a use case – you’re locked in a living room with your entire family and you need to pick something that everyone will like. Sounds like a dig, but there’s magic in a dinner at Hillstone
I have a lot of respect for the Knives Out movies just as an exercise in people making solid B+ level entertainment where everyone seems to be enjoying the experience without it needing it to win Oscar’s or make 3 billion dollars. It’s like going to a good steakhouse.

If you want a preview of the fear-mongering you’re about to hear in 2028 about why “I know you think we can have health coverage like they do in every other developed country, but it’s not so simple” here’s a very smart billionaire telling why you can’t have nice things
How much are you going to pay doctors?

Which current hospitals get shut down ?

What happens if doctors opt out of the system ? Who is going to invest in new curative therapies. You ?

How much in taxes pr year do you think it's possible to collect if you took every penny from billionaires?
Half the amount that everyone currently pays could provide universal healthcare. Private health companies don’t need to exist. Eliminate them. And use your collective buying power and economies of scale to get it done. Every cent of their profit is healthcare denied.

This is how it should work, the revolving door should be dem cities and dem admins. There should be a cross pollination between what works at the city state/level and the federal level. Not going from the Obama admin to Uber
Another great hire for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social: Sam Levine, Lina Khan's head of consumer protection at the FTC, will head the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection.

We pay some of highest utility bills in the country, but all we get are some of the highest paid utility executives in the country.

It's absurd. We should have the most advanced grid in the country, but it's falling apart.

No more talk. Time to change. Kick PG&E out of SF.
